The Best Places in Coorg

Coorg is a city with a number of places to enjoy. If you are a bird watcher, Coorg would be one of the best places you have ever visited. There are as many as 300 species of birds which can be seen in Coorg. All you would need is a pair of binoculars and you would be ready to say hello to the feathered jewels of Coorg.

Coorg is also a remarkable place for people who are interested in wildlife. You can visit the Nagarhole Game Sanctuary. The local Forest Department organizes a safari in the sanctuary which allows you to see animals like elephants, wild boar and dogs, bisons, spotted dears, peacocks, even monkeys. But these are just the lesser, more common animals. Nagarhole Game Sanctuary is also a tiger reserve and one of the best of its kind in India. The main attraction of this safari is the tiger itself.

Trekking is another important activity that you can do in Coorg. You can trek to the three main peaks of Coorg namely Pushpagiri, Brahmagiri and Tadiandamol. Coorg Adventure Club organizes regular trekking sessions for these peaks and you would be given a beautiful view of the city of Coorg after you have reached the peak.

You can also visit Coorg just to enjoy the rains. You can just roam around the city in rain. The torrential rains of Coorg would leave you completely drenched but would provide a feeling that can not be matched by anything else.

What you should not miss in Coorg

There are a number of must do things while you are in Coorg. To begin with you should try your hand at Golf while in Coorg. Coorg has three remarkably beautiful golf courses. These are Tata Coffee's course (Pollibetta), Mercara Downs (Mercara) and Coorg Golf Links (Bittangala). You would also fall in love with the cuisine of Coorg. If you are a non vegetarian, you would simply love the place.You must try Pandhi, Koli and Yarchi which are served with various spices. Obviously you should not miss the Coorg coffee either.

The one more thing that you should be doing in Coorg is white water rafting. There are a number of organizations that hold rafting sessions in Kaveri river. You can have most fun in rafting if you visit the place in the period of June to September.
